In the village of Wolvengat there is "Lillywood Gallery" belonging to local artists Wim and Tina de Roubaix.
North over the hill is the historic Moravian Mission town of Elim. A little further afield lies Baardskeerdersbos, home to the renowned Baardskeerdersbos Art Route, and the many artists who live there. For those that don’t want to miss out on a rugby match, here you can visit the local pub and watch it on TV !!!
The Haasvlakte, which is the area surrounding Wolvengat, in recent years has become a wine growing region.......
And we now have the Elim Wine Tasting Route...participating farms are Strandveld Wines, Black Oyster Catcher, The Berrio and Zoetendal. A little further afield are Quoin Rock and Lomond Wines...see map.
The whole area is a wonderful mountain biking territory and Black Oyster Catcher, Wines host, some great cycling routes through their farm and surroundings.
The beautiful unspoilt beaches of Die Dam are a mere 12kms away and this is where the Ratel River (in our vleiland) meets the sea.
Where ever you go in this area, keep your binoculars close at hand as you will see many birds and some wildlife.
